Africa — Witnessing Life’s Fragile Miracles (Part Two)

If Part One revealed Africa’s grandeur, Part Two uncovers its tender, intimate side — the quiet miracles that happen when no one is watching but the land itself.

Villages, Volcanoes, and Hidden Wonders

After Swala Camp, we ventured deeper into Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater. Our first stop was the local market, where colorful produce, fresh vegetables, spices, and the Maasai women’s intricate beaded crafts painted a vibrant picture of daily life. From there, we went on a walk with a Maasai healer, learning about the uses of over 20 different indigenous plants found in the Ngorongoro forest.

Next, we bicycled through the village streets and back roads near Arusha, experiencing life as the locals do. Later, we arrived at our camp at Gibb’s Farm, a historic lodge on the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. Founded in the 1920s as a coffee plantation, the farm offered traditional East African hospitality, with roots that run deep into the land and its heritage.

One evening, we chose to hike to the Elephant Caves, a site with a spectacular waterfall. Although the path to the waterfall became too narrow to continue safely, stopping at the caves was breathtaking. The mineral-rich soil attracts elephants, especially pregnant females, who dig and nourish themselves here. The caves are also home to leopards, who use them as hiding places while hunting.

The following day, we descended into the Ngorongoro Crater itself to explore the panoramic, game-rich prairies of this ancient volcanic caldera. With crater walls soaring 2,000 feet above, the views were breathtaking, and we spotted many of the Big Five. After another unforgettable stay, we headed toward our next camp deep in the Serengeti, where the journey with the Four Seasons awaited.

The Magic of the Serengeti

Driving through the Serengeti lies in its spectacular wildlife, particularly the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazellas. This is a dangerous river crossing with crocodiles waiting on the side of the river. This natural phenomenon, combined with abundant populations of the Big Five (Lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo), breathtaking land “endless plains,” and opportunities for cultural immersion with the Maasai People, creates an unforgettable safari experience. This park is a critical stronghold for conservation, protecting endangered species like the rhinoceros.

We often saw the park rangers parked only few feet away from Lions and lionesses with their cubs. Just making sure no one attempts to get close enough for more pictures. It was amazing to see their magnificent creatures just laying about without a care in the world. Often looking up to see if the Safari Jeeps are gone or still gawking at them with cameras constantly flashing.

In one area we came across a large family of Giraffes, complete with few newborns who had decided to cross the road with one leader of the pack blocking the entire roadway while the rest crossed back and forth. Pure magic!!!

Once we arrived at our large camp, the Four Seasons of Serengeti, we were delighted to see the incredible décor which was a fitting for the landscape. With the rooms laid out throughout the landscape, it was natural for us to see zebras, baboons, giraffes walk by the walkways and decks.

Every sunset was a blaze of red and gold. The timing to be at this location was a perfect setting to surprise my husband on his birthday with a special dinner for two in the middle of the Serengeti. Complete with a 4 course meal, wine, spectacular views, and couple of rangers with guns.

Our guides stood watch nearby, alert in case a lion decided to join the party. There was something deeply humbling about that — to be reminded that we were guests in their world, protected yet small under the vast African sky.

It wasn’t just a birthday; it was a celebration of life itself.

The Birth of a Gazelle in the Serengeti

In the heart of the Serengeti, seeing all the incredible wildlife was truly heartwarming, but seeing the new born babies was pure heaven. The elephants especially. They just have a special way of running around and trying to make sense of their trunk. We witnessed one family of about 8 matriarchs walking with 3 babies in between them as they protect them. One looked as if she was just couple of weeks old. As they approached a small river she was hesitating, and most likely the mama kept encouraging her with her trunk. At one point she fell down, and they all quickly rolled her over with their trunks. To me, that is the type of Migrations that I ever want to see.

One morning, we headed out to another game driven where we were to have a picnic lunch amongst the wildlife. We reached a lake that was full of flamingos together with the wildebeest. Completely unphased by each other’s presence.

On the way towards lunch, we noticed a little gazelle lying on her side, close to the road. As we approached the area, we noticed that something magical was taking place. The driver turned off the engine and we witnessed life unfold in its purest form: the little gazelle was cleaning her newborn fawn to encourage her to stand and nurse.

Needless to say…we all ignored the constant calls from the other jeeps re the lunch gathering as we were more focused on seeing this life development that we were gifted with. We all held our breath and quietly we kept watch for a sign of movement from the fawn, and suddenly she lifted her head and took her first wobbly steps under the watchful eye of her mother, and fell back down. All this while a lion rested not far from the area.

I personally was content to just stay there and watch the progress, but we agreed that after lunch, we would drive back to see how the baby was progressing.  An hour later, a quick check confirmed she had been guided further into the bush by her mother — hidden, protected, and thriving. Mother Nature at her finest.

The Heart of the Masai Mara — Olonana Lodge

From the Serengeti, we journeyed back towards Kenya to stay at Olonana Lodge in the Maasai Mara. Giraffes walked by the river, hippos played in the water, and baboons leapt onto the deck hoping for snacks.

On the last day at the village, we were fortunate enough to spend some time with the Maasai Mara community which left an indelible mark on my soul. Their spirit, resilience, and open-hearted kindness are beyond words. They live simply — yet their hearts are rich with generosity, connection, and a deep harmony with the land. The women are tasked with building their mud huts, fetching firewood, raising the children, taking care of the livestock, and making souvenirs for the visitors to purchase. The men with their brilliantly colorful clothing herd the cows, sheep and goats.

We learned that happiness is found not in what we possess, but in the depth of our connections with others, with nature, and with ourselves.

The Journey Home

After days immersed in Africa’s wonders, we returned to Nairobi airport and embarked on what seemed like a 30-hour journey home with three connections. Every mile, every sight, every delicate moment made it all worth it.

A Promise to Remember

Africa is more than a destination — it’s a teacher. It reveals what truly matters: love, respect, balance, and gratitude.
We are grateful for the experience and the wonderful new friendships that we developed during our trip. I left with dusty shoes, a full heart, and a quiet promise — to live with more intention, to give more freely, and to remember that beauty lies not in luxury, but in authenticity.

“In the wild, I found peace.
In the people, I found humanity.
And in Africa, I reconnect with myself and the deep passion that I have for animals.”

Africa — Where the Soul of Nature Still Breathes

Part One

A Journey That Touched My Soul

There are trips that entertain, and then there are journeys that transform. Our recent safari through Kenya’s Masai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti did more than take me across borders — it took me deeper into the meaning of life, harmony, and connection.
The rhythm of Africa is unlike any other. From the first morning call of distant lions to the breathtaking sunsets that set the horizon ablaze, this land speaks directly to your spirit. It humbles, heals, and teaches you — all at once.

What started as a long-awaited safari became a journey into nature, humanity, and the quiet wisdom that lives in the wild. Part One captures the beauty, connection, and heart-opening encounters that changed me. Our recent African adventure began with a quiet, elegant first night at Hemingway’s Nairobi — a serene retreat that felt like a gentle breath before the magic unfolded. The stillness of the evening, the soft glow of lanterns, and the warm hospitality eased us into the rhythm of Kenya, preparing our hearts for what was to come.

The next morning, our journey truly awakened as we arrived at the legendary Giraffe Manor. The moment we stepped onto the grounds, it felt as if we had entered a living dream. Tall, graceful giraffes drifted toward us with calm curiosity, their long lashes blinking softly as they leaned in to greet us.

We fed them by hand — even the babies, with their shy gentleness, stretched their necks toward us for treats. Standing eye-to-eye with these elegant giants at sunrise was surreal. There was a serenity in their presence, a noble quietness that felt like a blessing from Africa itself.

The Gentle Souls of Sheldrick

From there, we made our way to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where the magic deepened even further. Meeting the orphaned baby elephants — rescued, protected, and loved — filled me with awe.
One tiny elephant, Kipekee, ran playfully toward me, actually more like slammed into me, nudging my arm with her trunk as though she was expecting a branch/treat of some sort. She lingered, letting me gently explore her head and trunk with my hand. Then she picked up a branch and munched contentedly beside me, completely unguarded, entirely trusting.

I have never had a bucket list — but if I did, this experience would surely be on it.
Standing among a group of orphaned baby elephants at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was a moment beyond any dream. These gentle giants rescued and cared for with so much love, radiate innocence and curiosity.

To be so close to such pure, unguarded life was a gift I will never forget. In her playful eyes, I saw both the fragility and resilience of this planet we share — a reminder that compassion can heal even the deepest wounds.

To touch her… to feel her gentle spirit… was beyond any dream I had ever imagined. And this was only the beginning.

“In her eyes, I saw trust. In her touch, I felt hope.”

Exploring Kenya- The Wild Awakens

The next day we set out to explore Kenya. As our jeep rolled through the golden plains, I witnessed scenes that will forever live in my heart. Families of elephants moved gracefully across the land; giraffes leaned tenderly toward their young; the lioness watched her cubs with eyes full of power and love.

These magnificent creatures roamed freely, unbothered by our presence. They did not fear us, nor did they threaten. They simply were. And in that calm confidence, I saw something profoundly human — yet so rare in humanity today.

Animals kill only for survival, to feed or protect their families. Every life taken sustains another. When a lion hunts, the act feeds an entire ecosystem — hyenas, vultures, and even the smallest birds. In nature, nothing is wasted. Everything exists in balance.

Camps in Harmony With the Land

Leaving Nairobi behind, we began our journey into the wild — miles of open grassland, endless skies, and landscapes untouched by time. As we moved deeper into Kenya’s pristine reserves, the world opened itself to us in ways I will never forget. Our first night out in the wild was at The Tawi Lodge – Amboseli National Park at the foot of Kilimanjaro.

We could see the breathtaking snowcapped mountain from our room. Below it elephants roamed in elegant family groups. Zebras painted the plains with their perfect stripes. Water buffalo grazed with patient strength. Giraffes stepped across the horizon like moving sculptures. Birds of every color filled the sky with motion and song. It was a perfect picture that only mother nature could create!

From one breathtaking reserve to the next, we stayed in elegant camps designed with deep respect for the animals and the land. These were not places imposed on nature — they were woven into it.

Canvas tents opened to sweeping views of the plains. Lantern light flickered under the stars. Every detail whispered of harmony, humility, and gratitude for the earth.

At night, the distant roars and soft footfalls of wildlife reminded us that we were guests in their world — embraced, but never separate.

The beauty of Africa is not only in its grandness, but in the stillness between moments — the soft movement of wind in the grass, the distant call of wildlife, the way light wraps itself around the land.

Toward Tanzania — The Road to the Serengeti and the Mara

As we crossed from Kenya into Tanzania, the landscape shifted subtly, like turning a page into a new chapter of a beloved story. The vastness broadened. The colors deepened. And suddenly, I felt as though I had stepped straight into a scene from Out of Africa.

The wide-open plains of the Serengeti stretched endlessly before us — wild, majestic, eternal. The Masai Mara rose in quiet dignity, its people strong, warm, and deeply connected to their land.

Every kilometer revealed something new, yet everything felt deeply familiar — as though the soul recognizes ancient truths long before the mind does.

Amongst the Big Five

Our next destination was Sanctuary Swala Camp at the Tarangire National Park. We were all greeted at the entrance with warm towels and a refreshing ginger/pineapple drink we instantly became mesmerized by seeing a herd of elephants, of all ages huddled in front of the restaurant by the watering hole. Awww. That was it for me. They were just few feet away from us and were used to having people stand around and admire them as they went on with their daily routine of drinking, mudding and so on. Even the little baboons were not phased by our presence as they set behind the elephants waiting for their droppings.

Elephants have always been my favorite of all animals. Lage, yet gentle. Great memory, protective of their family and very sensitive to their families emotions.

The next morning, I decided not to go out on the safari drive with the rest of the group, the malaria pills had begun to upset my stomach. I decided to stay low in our camp and let the day unfold in front of me. And it ended up being one of the most profound days in my life.

At 8.29am I saw a family of elephants with a baby walk right past my deck, I was in awe, and jumped out of bed and went outside to sit on the deck and watch them walk towards the watering hole. 5 minutes later 3 others started walking past me. Then 4 others, one of which decided to stop right in front of me and just look over. I was stunned with admiration and just kept staring at it. Close enough to make eye contact at which time, tears started to run down my cheeks!! Then he turned away and caught up with the rest of the family. Total of 30 elephants walked by me that morning, all heading to their daily meeting bar. Apparently, this is what they do every day. Walk to the watering hole, play around, then around 4:00PM in the afternoon they start walking back to their night spot, only to repeat it again, the next morning. Needless to say, I did not want to leave that camp ever.

Every day was a fulfilling experience…often we see the same animals but in totally different setting which made it extra special. Never got old to see more zebras, elephants, giraffes and so on.

As our days in the wild unfolded, I thought I had seen the deepest beauty Africa had to offer.
But then, something extraordinary happened — something so delicate, so profound, it deserved a story of its own.
That moment lives in Part Two of this journey.

What do you need?

Ideas are merely thoughts that have been created by your mind. Yet, they serve no purpose if you fail to act upon them. However, due to the advent of the internet, right now is the opportunity time for you transform your idea into a reality. This is due to the fact that the web has enabled a wide array of opportunities passionfor you to reach out to other individuals who are in a similar frame of mind for collaborations as well as the development of websites like Kickstarter that has essentially enabled the opportunity for anyone to seek capital when it comes to funding their ideas. So what’s really stopping you from turning your ideas into a reality? Let’s look at what separates successful individuals from those who are not, as well as some tips to consider when it comes to turning an idea into a reality.

What Separates Successful Individuals From Those Who Are Not?

Failure To Take Action
Many people fail to act upon their passions due to the fact that they do not believe that their idea is as revolutionary as the idea of a massive game changer such as Facebook for example. However, the thing that separates successful people who pursue their passion from unsuccessful people who fail to pursue their passion isn’t the fact that they had a revolutionary idea or that they were highly intelligent, it’s the fact that they took action. Action is ultimately what will determine how successful you will be in life. Your idea doesn’t have to be a billion-dollar idea in order for you to be successful. All you need to do transform your idea into a successful business endeavor is for you to take action.

Fear Of Failure Itself
Based on the fact that we are human beings, we tend to resist the possibility of pursuing our passion, if we believe that we might fail if we pursue the concept of turning our dream into a reality. As such, many people never attempt to pursue their passion due to the “fear of failure.” However, individuals who continue to take action on their idea despite the perceived risk of failure, ultimately transform it into something that’s even better than they expected, due to the fact that their setbacks helped them to mold and shape their idea as well as to reinforce their belief in their dream.

Let’s take a look at some tips to consider when it comes to materializing your idea.

1) Refine Your Idea Into Something That’s More Concrete And Defined
When it comes to turning your idea into a reality, the first thing you should do is to turn it into something that is more concrete. Meaning, for example, the idea of setting up an online based business isn’t as concrete and defined as the idea of setting up an online based business that deals with selling iPhone cases through Instagram. Therefore, ensure that you turn your abstract concept into something that’s more concrete and defined.

2)Determine The Kind Of Resources You Will Need And How To Acquire Them
The next thing you need to do is to find out the kind of resources that you’re going to need as well as how you’re going to acquire them. To make a cake, you will need some ingredients. To materialize your idea you’re going to need some resources. As such, the question that you should be asking is what resources will you need to materialize your idea as well as how you intend to acquire those resources.

3) Determine The Idea’s Purpose
Ultimately, the purpose of your idea will serve as the fuel for your perseverance towards transforming your concept into a reality. If your idea has no purpose, the first setback that you encounter may cause you to give up. However, by defining the purpose of your idea, you will be able to overcome any obstacles that may manifest themselves along the way.

4) Formulate A Strategy By Determining What Steps You Need To Take To Materialize Your Idea
Once you overcome the fear of failure, refined your idea into something that’s more concrete and defined, determined what resources you will need as well as the purpose of your idea, the next thing you should do is to determine the steps that you’ll have to take to make your idea into a reality. This will ultimately serve as your strategy or detailed step by step plan. By developing a detailed system that outlines the necessary steps that you’ll have to take, it will make the whole process a much easier one and allows for a certain degree of consistency when it comes to ensuring that you’re on the right track.

5) Take Action
You can make the most sophisticated plan to accomplish you goal, yet fail in the same breath if you refuse to take action. As such, once you have created a strategic system that will help you to materialize your idea, you need to decide what’s the first thing you need to do, and you need to actually do it. By taking the first step, you can gradually progress forward by asking yourself what you will have to do next, after you have completed each step.

I hope that these tips somehow help you to take the next step towards realizing your own dream and to help you with the process. If you need hands on guidance, click here to get started.

“What’s the worst that can happen?” If you can deal with that answer, keep moving forward
Good luck.

How Deep Is Your Foundation?

What exactly is the role of a lifestyle developer?

In some ways, a lifestyle developer could be described as being similar to a property developer. greenhomeplanmaster
While a property developer has a vision and concept as to how a property should be presented to the world, the lifestyle developer has a similar concept and vision as to how a particular person might want to be portrayed to the world.

Each person is unique and has their own distinct tastes and preferences in eating habits, living style, type of vehicle they drive, clothing they like to wear, choice of makeup colors, and so forth. Each individual segment represents a part of the whole of who that person is and how they would like to represent themselves to the world.  Many people fail to recognize their own talents and abilities which they could use to their advantage to help them obtain the lifestyle they dream about. This is where a lifestyle developer can step in help the client realize their full potential and help them to gain the confidence they need to move forward in the quest of pursuing the lifestyle of their dreams. 60 Is The New 40!!

Old – Says You Or Society ?

Among the many things that people stress about, age is one of the things that continuously11666268_10204460992225309_3914623632412242649_n (2)
plagues the minds of individuals as they get older, particularly when over the 55+ category. Many believe at that point, all that can be accomplished has been accomplished and that the only thing that lies ahead is a life of bingo and news stories. The reality of the fact, however, is that this couldn’t be further from the truth.

With age comes wisdom and with wisdom, the quality of life that you can have, can be significantly higher than ever before. (Can you guess the age of these two beautiful ladies in this picture?)
